Middlesummer Night's Dream was written around 1400. In the dream, Queen Norgaard is taking a bath while her maidservant Tveger watches from the doorway. When the queen is done bathing, she sees herself in the mirror. The maidservant's name is Tveger. She is tall, with beautiful dark hair, wearing a yellow dress. Her lips are puckered in a smile. The queen's gaze fills with tears and she realizes that her kingdom is gone. It will take the queen a while to accept that she cannot rule over her country anymore, but when she does, the goddess Auri-El rules over them. Tveger leads the goddess away, revealing a dark staircase with three doors leading up to the hall of the slain kings. The first door is locked and labeled 'True King.' After waking up in the newly-built castle of Hunding, she sees that the second door has been left unlocked and she opens it to find the third door, labeled 'False King.' As the queen sits on the steps, she falls down a deep pit. She crawls up again, but a swarm of rats follows her and devours her. However, the queen can see her husband, the True King, who rises from his bed to comfort her and tells her that her children will take her place and protect her. The queen's children are a young man named Hjuki and a princess named Folker. Folker is enchanted by a painting of the goddess, who teaches her to follow her heart, always. After the queen is pregnant with Hjuki, she realizes that she cannot keep her new grandson. She asks the goddess for help, but it would not be able to help her. The goddess uses the old fashioned doll with its twisted arms and a dragon head, which Hjuki uses to make a bargain with him. She would give him a certain secret, if he would protect her. The two find themselves in a time warp, where the gods were destroyed, but the young king Alveric vanishes. He joins the dead in the death-trap known as The Dragon, where they all worship a giant fire-eating serpent named Skoll.
